The cultural effervescence of Paris

The cultural effervescence of Paris

Parisian museums and galleries continue to offer ever more fascinating exhibitions. Highlighting recognised or forgotten works, renowned artists or new creators, the capital’s cultural offerings include very high-quality events aimed at the general public. Here are some exhibitions taking place in 2023 that you won’t want to miss during your stay at the Hotel Auteuil Tour Eiffel… Take advantage of these great opportunities, some of which are taking place very close to the hotel.

Close to the hotel…

Without having to cross Paris during your stay at the Hotel Auteuil Tour Eiffel, you will have the choice between several events. Why not start, for example, by going to the Musée d'Orsay, on the banks of the Seine, for an exhibition dedicated to Manet and Degas? Conceived as a dialogue between two artists with a tumultuous relationship, the exhibition reveals the similarities as much as the disagreements between the two personalities, as reflected in their respective works. Then head to the Musée de l'Orangerie in the Jardin des Tuileries to immerse yourself in a key period of Matisse creativity: the 1930s. A trip to Polynesia caused the artist to rethink his way of expressing himself and opened a new stage in his creative journey. Only about twenty minutes by Metro from the Hôtel Auteuil Tour Eiffel is the Musée Jacquemart-André, which is offering a dazzling retrospective on one of the great names of the Italian Renaissance: Giovanni Bellini. This is a golden opportunity to admire in one place works that are usually held in various major European museums.

Eclectic exhibitions

Visit the Centre Pompidou and you’ll be spoiled for choice between two fascinating exhibitions. The first is devoted to the genius of Serge Gainsbourg and more particularly to his love of words. From exploring numerous manuscripts and documents taken from his library, the journey returns to his search for the exact word and his way of linking words and music, thereby shedding a little more light on his complex personality. A different ambiance can be experienced in the same place with a retrospective devoted to the contemporary Indian artist Sayed Haider Raza, founder of the Progressive Artists Group. Symbolism and cultural exchanges permeate his colourful canvases. And if contemporary art interests you, visit the new space dedicated to it: the Bourse du Commerce – François Pinault. Avant l’Orage (Before the Storm) offers installations, photos and films by contemporary artists reflecting on climate change. Finally, don’t miss the immersive experience offered at the Opéra Bastille by Le Grand Palais Immersif. This new digital space is currently spotlighting one of the pillars of Art Nouveau, Alfons Mucha, inviting you to enjoy a dazzling array of colours and movement.

Whether you prefer an intimate and low-key exhibition or a major media event, the world of culture is always effervescent in Paris. We recommend that you book your tickets for the biggest exhibitions as soon as possible. The Hotel Auteil Tour Eiffel team can help you with your plans!
