Summer is a lovely season in which to enjoy Paris. The atmosphere is relaxed and there are many activities. Don’t miss the military parade!
On the morning of July 14th, seemingly all of Paris gathers on the Champs-Élysées. Decked out in blue, white and red, our national colours, the most beautiful avenue in the world is closed to traffic and welcomes the crowds for an inspiring military parade. Standing in the shade of the avenue’s splendid trees, you can enjoy the spectacle of the French Armed Forces and the civilian corps in the service of France parading in their splendid regalia. The horses of the Republican Guards and the impressive uniforms of the Foreign Legion sappers particularly impress. And to add even more to the sense of occasion, the breath-taking skills of the national aerobatic team, the Patrouille de France, provide a thrilling highlight as they leave their colourful smoke trails across the Parisian sky.
Concert and fireworks at the Eiffel Tower
In the evening, head to the Eiffel Tower. Every year, Radio-France stages a huge free concert at the foot of the Iron Lady. Each year, the Orchestre National de France, the Maîtrise and the Chœur de Radio-France provide an exceptional performance accompanying different soloists. After Renaud Capuçon and Ibrahim Maalouf in 2021, the yet unrevealed 2022 programme is eagerly anticipated. At the end of the concert, at 23:00, stay on site to watch the big fireworks display. Launched from the Champs de Mars, it sets the Parisian sky ablaze and illuminates the monuments. It’s magical every time!
Dancing through to Bastille Day
July 14th would not be complete without a popular ball! You can start from the evening of the 13th. In the great Fête Nationale tradition, several fire stations open their doors, each hosting a ball intended to bring together all generations. Good-natured and welcoming, they last through the night.
